As proof I offer this fawn chilling in my front yard.

I WANNA LIVE IN THE WOODS

It’s going to grow up to be so tasty.

Looks delicious...

Meh. On one hand I like venison because deer are stupid assholes. On the other hand I think many animals are tastier.

You can do it!
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:23 |

Venison is alright imo.

I know the feeling, I have had Turkeys, Deer, Foxes, Coyotes in my back yard. And a moose down the street. I love having a house completely surrounded by woods.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:23 |

I ate a lot of venison (and elk) when I was a kid, but not anymore. It was good.

For a second I believed you were the fawn
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:25 |

Yeah, it’s a rather lean meat. We have ours ground up with some beef fat added. Passes pretty well for ground beef.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:25 |

I will in the future
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:25 |

I enjoy it, though I don’t have it regularly. My wife is pretty adamant about me not deer hunting.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:26 |

Fair enough. Speaking of being out in the woods in Maine, where the hell has 505 been?
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:27 |

I hate it when I run over deer shit on the lawn tractor and then have to host the wheel off before I put it away. It’s annoying.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:27 |

We have so many Foxes! Some nights you can hear them screaming all around us!
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:28 |
|
They mostly stay off the lawn because we have a dog but you can here their dumb asses crashing through the woods all the time.

He’s had a rough time of it the last few weeks. He’s got his kids and a bunch of unrelated crap has gone down.

I’ll take a nice moose steak any day.

When I used to leave for work at 4:30am I’d spook a herd in my yard every so often and they’d promptly scare the ever loving shit out of me. Now we’re starting to get bear sightings near by so I’m going to have to convince the wife to let me put up a 6ft fence around the backyard so I can least walk to the garage via an enclosed area. Not too keen running across a black bear while I’m half a sleep and on my way to work.

Sorry to hear that. Wish him best for me if you see or hear from him. I might shoot him a text.

Moose is my preferred hooved wild animal to eat.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:36 |

That’s far better than reality.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:37 |

Yeah we might be meeting up this weekend.

I haven’t heard the foxes just seen all the tracks and a glimpse. At night here all you can hear are the little peeper frogs. Which keep getting in my house.

This is our nighborhood doe who is currently nursing a fawn and it’s hard to see but our dog is sleeping in the shade by the Subaru.

Yeah I saw some bear droppings once right by the back corner of our yard where the deer like go past. Luckily I have yet to run into one. The biggest predators I see on the regular are Fox.

This was trying to get in my trash yesterday morning, Bear proof trash cans and 110lbs dog keep them at bay.

Haha those guys are the best! I’m amazed at how many frogs we have for not having any bodies of water around.
Here is huge grey tree frog napping on my shovel.
Our fox dgaf. One was curled up next to the road and when I drove past it merely looked at me then curled back up.

I sort of live in the woods. I can’t see my neighbor’s house in the summer.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:50 |

Your dog knows they aren’t a threat haha! I love your path is that slate?
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:51 |

Maybe you could feed it my fawn?
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:52 |

I can see my neighbors all year long as they live directly across the road.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 13:53 |

There is a swampish area across the street and 2 huge ponds about 1/4 mile away. So its frogs galore. I had one in the engine block of the V12 I am stripping, guy had fallen into the head, thankfully he climbed out, but it means he now is somewhere in my house.

The cacophony!

I’ve never had moose. I’ve had elk, which I assume is similar. I wonder if the hunting ban extends to moose or elk. Maybe I’ve found the loophole...

Same, we have a few foxes around us. Actually tracked on this winter that was chasing a rabbit, it was pretty neat to see how the tracks changed the close it got to the rabbit.
Haven’t seen any bear droppings but the day I do is the day I’m building a fence.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 14:18 |

Moose are ugly so you might be able to get away with it.
Alternatively you could acquire meat without having to directly do the killing.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 14:24 |

That is true, and my wife is scared of the trophy moose at Bass Pro.
And you’re right, I can, and probably would, just buy it vs. hunting for it. I’ve been a target shooter for a long time, but no one in my family hunts, so I’ve never had any exposure to it. I’m not against it, just no experience with it. I’ve thought about it a couple times, but Mrs. Snuze isn’t a fan of the idea.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 14:26 |

I’ve never hunted but cleaning and dragging a dead animal out of the woods is in no way fun.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 15:01 |

Yes it’s slate, and it’s a bitch to shovel but it looks nice.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 22:32 |

Mmmmm. Moose burgers and deer steaks..... Where a 1/4Lb burger is still a 1/4Lb burger after its cooked.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 07:50 |
|
Where’s the fun in that? Buffalo burgers is best burger.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 07:51 |
|
Haha yeah I bet it is. You should just shovel next to it.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 07:59 |

Haven’t tried them, but have heard the same.
Also, your comment came up blocked when I clicked on it this morning at work. It was blocked for sex. Not sure if it is the Buffalo or the burger that is considered “sex”.
either way, “Ewwwww?”
